The Neu Paring is a 90-100mm knife for work off the cutting board or precise tasks where a short, thin blade and precision is required. The blade is the ideal length to give some versatility but plenty of close-in dexterity. A thin grind gives the blade pinpoint accuracy.
Adam took the fence post that made the scales on this knife from his West Auckland property in the Waitakere Ranges. We don’t know how old the fence post was but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were somewhere between 50 and 100 years old. The exterior was weathered and rough; to begin with we didn’t even know what kind of wood lay beneath or if it’d be in useable condition but when I put it through the planer I was pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful Pururi.
